Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. 250 grams boneless mutton
  2. 300 grams wheat soaked overnight and husked
  3. 1 cup mixed daal - channa moong and masoor (split gram yellow lentil and red lentil)
  4. 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  5. 4 green chillies chopped and then pound
  6. 1 tsp chilli powder
  7. 4 tblsp ghee
  8. 2 onion sliced
  9. 2 tblsp garam masala
  10. 1/2 tsp turmeric
  11. salt to taste
  12. For the toppings:
  13. 1 cup fried onions
  14. 4 lemon wedges
  15. sliced ginger
  16. chopped coriander
  17. chopped green chilli

Instructions

  1. 1. Marinate the mutton with the ginger garlic paste as well as the green chillies and a bit of salt. Keep aside for 1 hour
  2. 2. Meanwhile soak the daals as well.
  3. 3. Coarsely grind the meat that has been soaked
  4. 4. Now, add the mutton, daal and its water as well as the wheat and the water it was soaked in along with the turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt. Cook on low heat for 1 hour.
  5. 5. Pressure cook the meat for 5 whistles. And then cool and grind the mixture.
  6. 6. Heat ghee in a large pan, fry the chopped onions and add the ground mutton mix to it.
  7. 7. Add the garam masala in it and cook for an additional 45 minutes or until the haleem is fragrant.
  8. 8. Serve hot with sliced ginger, lemon wedges, chopped coriander and chopped green chilli and fried onions
