ABOUT Mango modak RECIPE

Ganpati bappa's favourite modak with mango.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Mango pulp - 150 gms + 1 cup
  2. Jaggery - 100 gms
  3. Coconut - 150 gms
  4. Elaichi powder - 1/2 tspn
  5. Rice flour - 2 cups
  6. Water- 1 cup
  7. Sugar - 1 tbspn
  8. Ghee - 1 tspn +1 tspn
  9. Salt - 1/2 tspn

Instructions

  1. Take heavy bottom vessel. Add water, 1 cup mango pulp, sugar, salt, 1 tspn ghee and boil it.
  2. After mixture boils simmer the gas flame, add flour and mix it. Cover it for 30 secs, open and mix it again. Switch off the gas and keep it covered for 10-15 mins.
  3. In Kadhai take remaining mango pulp, coconut, jaggery, ghee and cook till it becomes thick mass and starts leaving kadhai. Add elaichi powder and remove it in bowl for cooling.
  4. Now take rice flour and knead it till it becomes soft dough.
  5. Make small bowl shapes from dough, add mango +coconut stuffing and give modak shape.
  6. Steam modak in steamer for 10 mins.
  7. After steaming, remove modak on plate and let it cool down.
