ABOUT Thengai Paal Sadam / Coconut Milk Rice RECIPE

Rice is cooked with coconut milk .It has few spices and lovely flavour.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 1 cup seeraga samba.
  2. 1 1/2 cup thick coconut milk.
  3. 2 tbsp oil .
  4. 1 tbsp ghee.
  5. 1" stick cinnamon,3 cardamom,4 cloves,1 piece bay leaf and few cashew pieces.
  6. 2 green chilli slit.
  7. 2 tbsp chopped mint leaves.
  8. 1 big onion sliced.
  9. Salt as per taste.

Instructions

  1. Wash and soak rice in water.
  2. Place cooker on medium flame.
  3. Add oil and 1/2 tbsp ghee.
  4. To this add cinamon,clove,cardamom,cashew and bay leaf,wait for it to splutter.
  5. Now add green chilli and onion,saute till onions are soft.
  6. Add mint leaf,rice and salt,stir for a minute in low flame.
  7. Add the coconut milk mix well, drizzle 1/2 tbsp ghee.
  8. Close cooker with whistle,and cook for 15 minutes on very low flame.
  9. Switch off the flame.Let it remain closed for 20 minutes.
  10. After 20 minutes open,stir gently,and serve hot with pickle.
