Ingredients to make Gujiya

  • all purpose flour 1 cup
  • refined oil 2 tablespoon
  • salt 1/2 tsp
  • grated coconut 1
  • sugar 3/4 cup or as per taste
  • cardamom 2-3
  • oil for frying

How to make Gujiya

  1. make a dough using all purpose flour,salt,oil and water
  2. keep it covered for half an hour
  3. in a pan cook grated coconut and sugar till sugar gets caramelised and changes colour
  4. add crushed cardamom and keep aside
  5. take a puri sized dough and roll it in a rolling pin
  6. place 1 tsp of caramelised coconut and rub some water in all the sides
  7. now fold the sides and seal it so that no opening left
  8. heat sufficient oil in a Kadhai
  9. deep fry these gujiyas in low flame till crispy golden in colour
  10. serve hot or u can store it for up to two days in an airtight container
