ABOUT Coconut Prawn Cake RECIPE

"Chingri Macher Piithe" is the actual name of Coconut Prawn Cake.This recipe is originally from Barisal,Bangladesh, provincial and very unique one. Hard to find the recipe other than from local people exclusively. It moves forward traditionally. As crab cakes are so popular, this one also taste savor. Healthy Coconut and Prawn these are the main ingredients for this cuisine. It can be paired with steamed rice or can go as healthy heavy snack.My granny used to make this, where I got to introduced first with "Chingri Macher Pithe" and my father belongs to Barisal. That's how this became our family recipe too. Enjoy!!!!!

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Grated coconut 1 cup
  2. Prawn Paste 150 gram
  3. Green Chilli 3-4
  4. Garlic 2 cloves
  5. Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  6. Sugar 1/2 teaspoon
  7. Mustard oil 1 tbsp
  8. Salt
  9. banana leaf

Instructions

  1. Grate Coconut and paste in Stone mortar pastel or in blender.Clean the Shrimp and blend in the blender like a fine paste.
  2. Mix Coconut and Prawn paste and blend them together with garlic and Green Chili.When the mixture is ready now add turmeric ,salt,sugar, Mustard Oil and give it a really good mix.
  3. Wash and dry a small portion of Banana leaf which will fit in the frying pan and brush the leaf with mustard oil and place it on a frying pan.
  4. Now take all the mixture onto the banana leaf and place it with a thick width of 1/2 inch. Cover with another set of banana leaf and cover the whole frying pan.
  5. The whole arrangement look like this.The heat should be medium throughout the cooking process.
  6. Each side will take around 15 minutes and turn around the whole mixture with the leaf set so the top layer goes down and the bottom layer comes up. After the cooking the cake looks like this
  7. The close look of the cake is like this.
  8. Traditionally it should be served like this,with steamed rice, Masoor daal, Onion,Lemon or Lime wedge, Green chili.
