This traditional sweet is usually prepared amd served as prashad in India's Jagannath puri temple .This layered fritters are dunked in sugar syrup and served..do try on any special occassions as it requires very few ingredients

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For dough
  2. 1 cup all purpose flour
  3. 2 tsp ghee
  4. Water to knead the dough
  5. 2for greasing
  6. 2 tsp ghee
  7. 2 tsp all purpose flour
  8. For sugar syrup
  9. 1/2 cup sugar
  10. 1/2 cup water
  11. 1 tsp cardamon powder
  12. Few strand of kesar
  13. Pistas for topping

Instructions

  1. SIEVE 1 CUP OF REFINED FLOUR IN A VESSEL
  2. ADD 2 TSP OF GHEE IN THE REFINED FLOUR
  3. FORM A CRUMBLE TEXTURE OF THE DOUGH BY MIXING IT WITH LIGHT HANDS..
  4. ADD LITTLE WATER AND FORM A TIGHT DOUGH AS THAT OF PARATAS...
  5. COVER THE DOUGH AND LET IT REST FOR 30 MIN
  6. NOW LETS START TO MAKE SUGAR SYRUP. TAKE 1/2 CUP SUGAR AND ADD VERY LITTLE WATER IN A VESSEL
  7. MAKE 2 STRINGS SUGAR SYRUP BY COOKNG IT ON SLOW FLAME,ADD KESAR &CARDAMON.ONCE READY,KEEP IT ASIDE.
  8. LETS START WORK WITH DOUGH AGAIN..MAKE EQUAL BALLS OF THE DOUGH..ROLL THEM IN THIN CHAPATIS
  9. MIX 2TSP GHEE AND 2TSP REFINED FLOUR IN A BOWL..NOW SPREAD LITTLE OF ABOVE MIXTURE EVENLY ON CHAPATI
  10. PLACE ANOTHER ROLLED THIN CHAPATI ON IT AND APPLY THE GHEE REFINED FLOUR MIXTURE ON IT
  11. PLACE THE THIRD CHAPATI ON IT AND REPEAT THE SAME PROCESS FOR ALL ROLLED THIN CHAPATIS
  12. NOW SLOWLY FOLD THE LAYERS OF CHAPATIS TIGHTLY TO FORM LONG DOUGH
  13. ROLL THE DOUGH SO THAT IT STICKS TO EACH OTHER
  14. NOW CUT THE SIDES OF THE DOUGH AND KEEP ASIDE
  15. CUT EQUAL SIZED DOUGH TO MAKE CHIROTIS
  16. FLIP THE DOUGH HORIZONTALLY AND PRESS WITH YOUR PALM OR ROLL THEM WITH ROLLPIN
  17. YOU CAN ROLL THEM WITH ROLLPIN AND MAKE THIN CHAPATIS ALSO
  18. NOW FRY ON MEDIUM FLAME IN GHEE..HERE BOTH PRESSED DOUGH AND ROLLED CHAPATI ARE FRYING..
  19. FRY TILL THE CHIROTIS ARE LIGHT BROWN IN COLOUR
  20. NOW COAT THE FRIED CHIROTIS IN SUGAR SYRUP EVENLY
  21. REMOVE FROM THE SYRUP AND PLACE IN PERFORATED PLATE IN STANDING POSITION AS SHOWN FOR 1 HR
