Kerala style fish curry with coconut.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 6 slices butter fish
  2. 4pcs dried Kokum
  3. 2 green chillies
  4. 2tsp Salt
  5. 1/2 of a coconut scrapped
  6. 2 medium size tomatoes roughly chopped
  7. 6 garlic pods
  8. 2 inches ginger roughly chopped
  9. 2tsp kashmiri chilli powder
  10. 1tsp turmeric powder
  11. 2tsp Coriander powder
  12. 1/4tsp Cumin seeds
  13. 1/4tsp fennel seeds
  14. 2 pinches of asofetida
  15. 4tbs oil
  16. 1/2tsp Mustard seeds
  17. 8-10 shallots cut into slices
  18. Bunch of curry leaves
  19. Handful of chopped coriander leaves for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Take a kadai, add 4 cups of water n bring to a boil.
  2. Add fish pieces, kokum, green chillies, 1tsp salt and 1/2tsp turmeric powder and let it boil for 6-8mins.
  3. In a mixer grinder grind the items from coconut to asofetida until smooth paste.
  4. Take another kadai. Heat 4tbs oil.
  5. Add mustard seeds and let it crackle. Add the bunch if curry leaves.
  6. Add the shallots and fry until light brown.
  7. Now add the ground paste and fry until oil separates.
  8. Now add the fried masala to boiling fish and cook for 8-10mins.
  9. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
