When there is no time for biryani and you would like to make something delicious then this recipe or rather I prefer calling it as tahari recipe can be made with less time.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. rice 2.5 cup
  2. Brijinal 1
  3. potato 1
  4. Bottle gourd 1 cup
  5. onion 1
  6. ginger paste 1 spoon
  7. garlic paste 1 spoon
  8. tomato 2
  9. coriander leaves
  10. mint leaves
  11. Red chilli powder 1 spoon
  12. turmeric 1 spoon
  13. Garam masala 1 spoon
  14. salt as per ur taste
  15. cumin seeds 1 spoon
  16. Chakri phool 1
  17. cinnamon 1
  18. Caraway seeds 1/2 spoon
  19. Green cardamom 2
  20. Black cardamom 2
  21. cloves 2
  22. mustard oil 4 spoon


  1. Wash and soak basmati rice for about 20- 25 minutes.Do not soak rice if you are using ordinary rice.
  2. Take a pressure cooker, into it, add oil and heat it.Add cumin, chakri phool, clove, cardamom, cinnamon stick, caraway seeds into it and saute.
  3. Add slit green chillies, add sliced onions and fry till slight golden brown.
  4. Add ginger garlic paste and tomato, saute for a while to get rid of the raw smell of the ginger garlic paste
  5. Add all the dry spices, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, mix well and cook for few minutes
  6. Add diced potatoes and chopped vegetables mix well and cook for about 5 minutes.
  7. Add chopped coriander leaves and chopped mint leaves and cook until oil starts appearing.
  8. In a pressure cooker, add the soaked rice,and add about 5 glasses of water, mix well.
  9. Cover with cooker lid and wait for 2 to 3 whistle.
  10. Cook until the rice is done
  11. Serve with curd and green chutney.
