Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 4 ripe mangoes
  2. 2 tsp chili powder
  3. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  4. 1 tbsp jaggery
  5. Salt to taste
  6. 1 tsp tamarind ( optional)
  7. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  8. 1 tsp black gram
  9. 1 strand curry leaves
  10. 2 red chillies
  11. 1 tbsp Coconut oil


  1. Wash the mangoes well and cut into small cubes with skin.
  2. Place a vessel over medium heat and drizzle little bit of oil.
  3. As oil starts to heat up, put mustard seeds, black gram and red chilli. When the seasoning starts to sputter, add curry leaves followed by mango cubes, and place a cover on the pan.
  4. After few minutes add salt, tamarind, and jaggery and stir well. Add a teaspoon of turmeric powder and red chilli powder and continue to stir and place the cover back on.
  5. After about 4-6 minutes, the mangoes are cooked throughout and appear a little mushy. Turn off the heat at this point. Add more salt as desired and the ripe mango curry is ready!
