Ingredients to make Swedish Cinnamon Rolls

  • For the Dough :
  • 2 3/4 cups of all puropose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 5 tbsp butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup water(lukewarm)
  • 1/4 cup milk (lukewarm)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • For the filling
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Vanilla essence
  • For the glaze
  • 1 cup Icing sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 4 tbsp milk

How to make Swedish Cinnamon Rolls

  1. First we will prove yeast by adding 2 tbsp sugar and yeast in luke warm water.Let it froth up. Then add in oil and egg and mix well.
  2. Sieve flour with salt and add spoon by spoon in the yeas, egg and oil mixture. mix well with each addition remove in counter and knead till its shiny and doesn't stick any more with your hands.Let this prove for an hour.
  3. After an hour punch it down and roll it by dusting some flour in the counter. Brush the rolled dough with butter.
  4. Mix brown sugar,cinnamon and vanilla essence and add sprinkle this over the rolled dough.
  5. Tightly make a log of the rolled dough by rolling it from one side. Cut it in equal parts using a thin thread.
  6. Place it in a greased tin and let it rest for 30 mins. After 30 mins brush it with little butter and milk.
  7. Bake this in a preheated oven at 190 degree c for 15-20 mins.
  8. For the glaze mix in together milk, icing sugar and vanilla essence. Drizzle this over the cinnamon rolls and serve when its still warm.
