Mostly potato is the main ingredient of a fasting recipe, but we have made this recipe healthy by using sama millet and sabudana which are nutrient rich and make for perfect ingredients during a fast.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. ½ cup sama millet (washed)
  2. ¼ cup sabudana (washed)
  3. ½ cup curd
  4. 1 tsp ginger-green chilli paste
  5. ½ tsp rock salt
  6. 1½ tsp oil
  7. ½ tsp cumin seeds
  8. ½ cup sweet potato (boiled)
  9. ½ tsp lemon juice
  10. ½ cup peanut (roasted and crushed)


  1. In a deep bowl mix sama millet, sabudana, curd, giger-garlic paste, and rock salt.
  2. Mix this mixture well and soak for about 8 hours.
  3. For stuffing mixture heat a non-stick pan add oil and cumin seeds.
  4. Let the seeds splutter.
  5. Add sweet potato, peanuts, and lemon juice. Mix well and let it cook for 5 minutes on a low flame.
  6. Heat the water in the idli steamer and grease the idli moulds on the side.
  7. Let the idli steam and serve hot with peanut curd chutney.
