Its a authentic Bengali dish "Dhokar Dalna", which I made it buttery.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Bengal gram(Chana dal)...2cup
  2. Yellow split pea(matar dal)...1/2cup
  3. Sugar...1tspn
  4. Asafoetida...1tspn
  5. Cumin powder...1tspn
  6. Garam masala...1/2tspn
  7. Carom seeds...1tspn
  8. Turmeric powder...2tspn
  9. Red chilli powder...1tspn
  10. Oil for frying
  11. Potato...2big size
  12. Ginger paste...1tspn
  13. Tomato...1
  14. Cumin seeds...1tspn
  15. Kashmiri red chilli...1tspn
  16. Dry red chilli...3
  17. Bay leaves...3
  18. Butter...2cube

Instructions

  1. Soak both the pulses overnight & then coarsely grind it with salt ,ginger & green chilli.
  2. Dry roast the carom seeds & fennel seeds & make a powder of it.
  3. Mix this powder,salt, asafoetida, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, sugar,garam masala with lentil paste.
  4. Heat 1tspn oil in a non stick pan & add the lentil mixture in it.Cook it for 5 minutes in medium heat.
  5. Now grease a trey & pour the mixture in it.Leave it for 5 minutes.
  6. After that cut it into diamond shaped & deep fry it in medium flame.
  7. Fry potato cubes & keep aside.
  8. Make a paste of turmeric powder,kashmiri red chilli powder,cumin powder ,garam masala with little water & keep aside.
  9. Now heat butter & temper it with cumin seeds,bay leaves, dry red chilli & asafoetida.
  10. Add ginger paste ,tomato paste & masala paste .Fry it for few minutes until oil separates from mixture.
  11. Add salt & sugar.
  12. Now add fried potatoes & some water.Cook it till potatoes soften.
  13. Add the fried lentil cakes & cook it for 5 minutes in low flame.
  14. Add extra butter & coriander leaves.Switch off the flame & give the dish a standing time of 10 minutes before serving.
