ABOUT Bafauri RECIPE

Bafauri dish is native to Chhattisgarh, Bihar. Bafauri is a simple and light snack made from masoor daal, onions and mix of spices and served with tomato and coriander spicy chutney.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Masoor daal 1 cup
  2. Onion chopped 1 chopped
  3. 1- inch ginger grated
  4. Green chili 1 chopped
  5. Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  6. Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  7. Red Chilli Powder 1/2 teaspoon
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Handful coriander leaves chopped

Instructions

  1. Soak masoor daal in water for more than 2 to 3 hours.
  2. Drain the water and grind it to make a smooth paste.
  3. Transfer all the paste to a mixing bowl. Add all the ingredients and mix it well.
  4. Heat the steamer and when the steamer is ready to steam, first grease the idli stand with the oil.
  5. In a steamer, pour the batter into each greased idli mold and steam in a steamer for 8 to 10 minutes.
  6. Cool slightly, remove from mold and serve hot.
