Brazilian Brigadeiros in Creamy Vanilla Sauce

ABOUT Brazilian Brigadeiros in Creamy Vanilla Sauce RECIPE

Brigadeiros! It’s named after a famous general and was created in the 1920s when imported sweets were unavailable during the upheaval of the time.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. For truffles :
  2. Condensed Milk / Milkmaid 1 tin
  3. Cocoa powder 1/4 cup
  4. Butter 2 tbsp
  5. Vanilla extract 3/4 tbsp
  6. For garnishing :
  7. Almonds - finely chopped 1/2 cup [ You may also use chocolate vermicelli, dried rose petals, silvered pistachios, edible beads etc.]
  8. For vanilla sauce :
  9. Heavy cream 1 cup
  10. Sugar 1/2 cup
  11. All purpose flour 1/2 tbsp
  12. Butter 1/4 cup
  13. Vanilla extract 1 tsp
  14. Yellow color 2 drops

Instructions

  1. For making truffles :
  2. Take a heavy bottomed vessel and mix condensed milk, cocoa and butter together.
  3. Heat the mix in low flame and keep stirring it regularly till you get a thick texture.
  4. Switch off the gas and set aside to cool.
  5. Scoop equal sized balls and shape them perfect round with greased palms.
  6. Roll them over the garnishes and refrigerate then for few hours to set properly before serving.
  7. Enjoy them as whole or you may also serve them with creamy vanilla sauce.
  8. For making vanilla sauce :
  9. In a sauce pan stir in heavy cream, sugar and all purpose flour.
  10. Now add butter and cook in medium flame, stirring constantly till the butter is melted.
  11. Cook till the mixture begins to boil and gets slightly thick.
  12. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and color.
  13. Serve warm!
