Bong or bengalis die for fish paturi...its a traditional bengali recipe from west bengal.Here I cook the paturi as my mom cooks.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 2pcs boneless fish (I used bhetki fish)
  2. 2tbsp yellow mustard powder
  3. 2tbsp black mustard powder
  4. 2-3green chillies
  5. 1tbsp poppy seeds
  6. 1tbsp melon seeds or charmagaz
  7. 2-3tbsp mustard oil
  8. salt to taste
  9. banana leaves


  1. Make a paste of Mustard, poppy seeds, charmagaz and green chillies.
  2. add turmeric powder and salt with the above paste and mix it with mustard oil
  3. Now take the banana leaves and microwave it for 1mint.
  4. Marinate fish with paste and place it on the banana leaves.then fold it from all ends to form a parcel.
  5. Place it in a steamer and stem for 20mints.
  6. Open the banana leaves and enjoy with rice.
