ABOUT Raw banana vada RECIPE

Raw Banana is called Vazakkai in Tamil and a very old recipe. Apart from making the bananas as curry, they were made into great tasting Vadas. It is crispy on the outside and soft and flavourful with a whole burst of flavours in the mouth. It can be served with Coconut, Tomato Chutneys and Ketchup.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Raw banana 2
  2. Onion 2
  3. Cumin seeds 1 tablespoon
  4. coriander leaves a bunch
  5. Curry leaves a bunch
  6. Chilly powder 1/2 teaspoon
  7. Gram flour 2 tablespoons
  8. Salt as required

Instructions

  1. Peel the raw bananas, pressure cook until they can be mashed.
  2. Finely chop the onions, coriander leaves and curry leaves.
  3. In a bowl, add the mashed bananas, chopped onions, coriander leaves, curry leaves, cumin seeds, chilly powder, gram flour powder, salt and mix well.
  4. Make small patties from the mixture.
  5. In a pan, shallow fry the patties.
  6. Serve the vadas hot.
