ABOUT Panak RECIPE

Traditional lemon-ginger-pepper drink made during the occasion of Ramnavami.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 3 cups water
  2. 1 inch piece fresh ginger
  3. 1/4 cup jaggery powder (depending upon how sweet you want your panak)
  4. 1/2 tsp fresh black pepper powder
  5. 1/4 tsp fresh cardamom powder
  6. 1 large lemon

Instructions

  1. Boil jaggery and grated ginger in water for about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in fresh black pepper powder and fresh cardamom powder; let the mixture cool.
  3. Cover and let the flavors infuse. Adjust the amount of jaggery if needed.
  4. Once cool, strain to remove the ginger gratings (optional) add juice from one large lemon, mix well and serve or better yet, chill thoroughly and serve!
