A South Indian rice delicacy made with fresh tomatoes

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Rice 1/4kg
  2. Ripe tomatoes 3
  3. Big onion 1
  4. Carrot 1
  5. Green chillies 2 or 3
  6. Cloves 5
  7. Cinnamon 2 inches
  8. Ginger garlic paste 1 teaspoon
  9. Chilli powder 1 teaspoon
  10. Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon
  11. Salt as required
  12. Coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. Wash rice and soak it in water for 10 minutes.
  2. Dice onions,carrot and green chillies into 1 inch strips.
  3. Make tomato puree from the 3 tomatoes in a mixer.
  4. Take a pressure pan and heat 4 tablespoons of oil and add cloves, cinnamon and bay leaf. Saute a little and add ginger garlic paste and chopped vegetables.
  5. Now add 3/4 glass of tomato puree. Add salt and red chilli powder as required.
  6. Then add garam masala powder and 1 1/4 glass of water and allow to boil.
  7. After adding rice close the lid and cook it for 10 minutes.
  8. After 10 minutes add finely chopped coriander and serve hot with raita!!
