ABOUT Usli RECIPE

This dish is made in Goa and Maharashtra. One can use moong or matki or green peas or beans. I have used a mixture of this that is the Nav Dhan cereal available in the market. We can use sprouted beans or beans soaked overnight.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Mixed Beans soaked overnight 1 cup
  2. Ghee 1 tbsp
  3. Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
  4. Hing 1/2 tsp
  5. Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  6. Curry leaves few
  7. Fresh grated coconut 2 tbsp
  8. Goda masala 1 tsp
  9. Jaggery 1 tbsp
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Water 1.5 cups

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee. Add mustard seeds. When they sizzle add hing, turmeric powder, and curry leaves
  2. Add the beans, water and pressure cook for 2 whistles
  3. Add grated coconut, goda masala, jaggery and salt
