ABOUT Masala Soya Chaap RECIPE

Soya chaap, primarily a Northern Indian dish is enriched with proteins and is appealing and tempting to eat. This is a pure vegetarian dish.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Soyabean sticks - 4 to 5
  2. Cream - 100 grams
  3. Ginger - 1 inch
  4. Green chilly - 1 piece
  5. Tomato - 3
  6. Oil - 3-4 tbsp
  7. Asafoetida - 1 pinch
  8. Green coriander - 2 tbsp chopped
  9. Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  10. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  11. onion 2
  12. Red chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
  13. Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
  14. Cinnamon stick - 1
  15. bayleaf 2 to 3
  16. coriander powder one tablespoon
  17. Clove - 2
  18. dry fenugreek leaves 1 tbsp
  19. Black pepper - 6-7
  20. Salt - 1 tsp (as per taste)

Instructions

  1. Cut the soya chaap in 1-1.5 inch peices.
  2. Chop onion, tomato, ginger, green chilly and grind finely to make a fine paste.
  3. Heat some oil in a pan and fry the chaap until they get brow in color and cooked through. Drain out the chaap on kitchen paper towels to remove excess oil.
  4. Splutter cumin seeds in the 2 tbsp hot oil in cooker. Then add dry fenugreek seeds, along with whole spices i.e. black pepper, cinnamon stick, bay leaf, clove and cardamom. Saute the spices for 1 minute.
  5. Then add onion, tomato, ginger and green chilly paste. mix it well for 5 minutes. Add asafoetida, turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilly powder and saute until you see oil leaving the sides of the masala.
  6. Now add garam masala and cream. Keep stirring constantly until you see gentle boil in the masala.
  7. Add soya chaap peices and mix well.
  8. Add water to the masala and mix well.
  9. Add salt and close the lid of cooker and wait for 4 vessel.
  10. Add coriander leaves. Spicy soya chaap curry is now ready. Transfer to another bowl.
  11. Served it with butter naan, parantha or chapatti.
