Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Moong daal 1 cup
  2. Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Grated coconut 1/3 cup
  5. Green chillies 2
  6. Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  7. Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
  8. Whole red Chili 2
  9. Curry leaves 1 sprig
  10. Shallots 3..4
  11. Oil 1 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the pulse till golden brown
  2. Add salt , turmeric powder and 2 cups water and boil till soft
  3. Grind grated coconut along with green chillies and half of the cumin seeds adding little water
  4. Add this grinded paste to the boiled pulses
  5. Cook for 5 minutes at slow flame
  6. Now make a tadka of oil adding remaining cumin seeds, mustard seeds, curry leaves and whole red chili
  7. Add chopped shallots to this tadka
  8. Let the shallots be translucent
  9. Add this whole tadka to daal
  10. Serve hot with rice topped with some more ghee
