ABOUT Badam Puri RECIPE

This is an authentic and traditional sweet recipe from Karnataka. This crispy Badam puri or badami poori is prepared using maida, ghee and sugar. One interesting fact about Karnataka style badam puri, it does not contain badam or almonds.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Maida 2cup
  2. ghee 1/4cup
  3. Sugar 1cup
  4. Lemon juice 1/2tsp
  5. Cardamom powder 1 tsp
  6. salt as per taste
  7. Oil for deep frying as needed
  8. Cloves few

Instructions

  1. Take maida in a bowl, add salt, ghee, rub well.
  2. Sprinkle water little by little and make a soft dough. Rest it for 15mins.
  3. Meanwhile prepare sugar syrup by adding 1cup sugar with 1cup water.
  4. Add lemon juice and cardamom powder.
  5. Roll a lemon sized dough into a small poori.
  6. Now fold the rolled poori twice to get a triangular shape.
  7. Now roll it again gently to make it little big in size.
  8. Prick the rolled poori using a fork in 4/ 5 places. Press one clove.
  9. Repeat the same for rest of the dough.
  10. Now deep fry these on medium heat till brown from all sides.
  11. Dip them in the warm sugar syrup for 2-3 minutes and take them out.
  12. Let these rest for 1-2hr and serve.
