It is a sindhi cuisine, the dal is bengal gram dal which is cooked and given a tadka of red chilli powder and amchoor powder.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 2 cups maida
  2. 1 tsp jeera
  3. Salt to taste
  4. 1 tsp thin semolina rawa
  5. 1 tsp oil
  6. Warm water as required
  7. Oil for frying
  8. 1 tbsp oil
  9. 1 cup bengal gram dal soaked overnight
  10. 1 onion chopped
  11. 2 to 3 green chillies, chopped
  12. 5 to 6 curry leaves
  13. Coriander for garnish
  14. Salt to taste
  15. Pinch of turmeric


  1. In a bowl add maida, sooji, salt, oil, jeera and make a dough with the help of warm water. Wrap it up with a muslin cloth for 4 hours then roll it like roti shape and prick it with a fork. Deep fry it.
  2. In a cooker add oil, fry jeera, curry leaves and green chillies, chopped. When they begin crackle, add chopped onions and fry till light pink. Add salt, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, amchoor powder, mix well then add bengal gram dal, coriander, water and pressure cook it for 8 whistles.
  3. On a plate, add the pakwan and in a bowl, add dal, sprinkle red chilli powder, amchoor powder, green spicy chutney, tamarind chutney and give a tadka of hot oil on it. Add chopped onions and serve hot.
