Dal is staple dish in infian cuisine. When you have leftover dal, but not enough to make a meal, why not make dal  dhokali?Dal Dhokli is basically Gujarati recepi. You can say it is indian desi pasta.Apart from being easy to prepare, healthy and stomach filling, this dal dhokli is capable of carrying entire meal on its own

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. left over dal 1.5 cup
  2. jaggery 2 teaspoon (optional)
  3. wheat flour 3/4 cup
  4. Gram (besan)flour 1/4 cup
  5. carom seeds 1 teaspoon
  6. Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  7. red chilli powder 1 teaspoon
  8. turmeric 1/4 teaspoon
  9. Coriander powder 1 teaspoon
  10. Cumin powder 1/2 teaspoon
  11. salt to taste
  12. oil 1 tablespoon
  13. Water as required

Instructions

  1. Take a bowl and add whole wheat flour, gram flour, salt, vegetable oil, cumin seeds,carom seeds and turmeric powder,red chilly powder, Cumin powder, coriander powder, in a bowl and mix well.
  2. Add little water and knead to make a soft chapati like dough.
  3. Now take leftover dal in cooker .Add 2 cup water , jaggery (optional) boil it for 5 minutes..
  4. Make small balls from the dough and roll to make a thin chapati
  5. Cut the chapati into small pieces of square shape.
  6. Add the pieces in the cooked dal. Add some more water if required.
  7. cover the cooker with lid.and pressure cook for 2 whistle on slow to medium flam
  8. Dal Dhokli is reading Serve hot with mango pickel.
