About Obbattu Saaru / Poli Rasam Recipe

Rasam Prepared with lefover Poli filling.Its a delicious rasam blend with all taste except bitterness .

Obbattu Saaru / Poli Rasam

Ingredients to make Obbattu Saaru / Poli Rasam

  • Leftover Poli filling - 1/2 cup
  • Dal cooked water -3/4 cup
  • water -2 1/2 cups(adjust it)
  • salt - to taste
  • Tamarind - 1 amla size (soak in little hot water)
  • curry leaves - 1 sprig
  • Grated coconut -1/3 cup
  • Rasam Powder - 1 tbsp
  • coriander leaves -2 tbsp,finely chopped
  • For Seasoning :
  • ghee - 2 tsp
  • mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
  • cumin seeds -1/4 tsp
  • hing -1/8 tsp
  • Dry red chilli -2 (pinched it)

How to make Obbattu Saaru / Poli Rasam

  1. *In a blender grind the grated coconut,soaked tamarind,rasam powder,poli filling to a fine paste by adding little water.
  2. *In a vessel add the ground paste,salt,curry leaves,dal cooked water and mix well.Add the required water and keep it on medium heat and let it boil.
  3. Add the remaing water until you reach the desired consistency.Stir it in between else it will burn.
  4. Once the rasam starts to frothy ,switch off the flame and add the chopped coriander leaves.
  5. Finally add the seasoning ingredients given under "For seasoning" on top of the rasam.Serve hot !!

My Tip:

If you dont have poli filling then add the cooked dal,cardamom and jaggery to the paste and grind it.and follow the rest .
