ABOUT Obbattu Saaru / Poli Rasam RECIPE

Rasam Prepared with lefover Poli filling.Its a delicious rasam blend with all taste except bitterness .

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Leftover Poli filling - 1/2 cup
  2. Dal cooked water -3/4 cup
  3. Water -2 1/2 cups(adjust it)
  4. Salt - to taste
  5. Tamarind - 1 amla size (soak in little hot water)
  6. Curry leaves - 1 sprig
  7. Grated coconut -1/3 cup
  8. Rasam Powder - 1 tbsp
  9. Coriander leaves -2 tbsp,finely chopped
  10. For Seasoning :
  11. Ghee - 2 tsp
  12. Mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
  13. Cumin seeds -1/4 tsp
  14. Hing -1/8 tsp
  15. Dry red chilli -2 (pinched it)

Instructions

  1. *In a blender grind the grated coconut,soaked tamarind,rasam powder,poli filling to a fine paste by adding little water.
  2. *In a vessel add the ground paste,salt,curry leaves,dal cooked water and mix well.Add the required water and keep it on medium heat and let it boil.
  3. Add the remaing water until you reach the desired consistency.Stir it in between else it will burn.
  4. Once the rasam starts to frothy ,switch off the flame and add the chopped coriander leaves.
  5. Finally add the seasoning ingredients given under "For seasoning" on top of the rasam.Serve hot !!
