ABOUT Kollu Kozhukattai (a) KoKo RECIPE

Traditional dish of Tamilnadu with a healthy twist, Horse gram.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Horse gram (Kollu paruppu) - 1 cup
  2. Boiled rice - 1/2 cup
  3. Groundnut - 100gm
  4. Sesame - 50gm
  5. Moong dal - 50gm
  6. Jaggery - 1/2 cup
  7. Water

Instructions

  1. Roast the horsegram and boiled rice separately. Grind it to a coarse powder.
  2. Roast the groundnuts, moong dal and sesame seeds separately and keep it aside.
  3. To a vessel add water along with jaggery and boil it. When the jaggery water comes to thick consistency, turn off the flame.
  4. Now to a bowl, add all the prepared ingredients together and mix it well. Add the jaggery water little by little and prepare a dough.
  5. Grease your palms, break off a small piece from the dough and make rounded balls out of it.
  6. Steam them for about 15-20 minutes. Enjoy it when warm/hot.
