Sambhar a South Indian preparation goes well with dosas , idlis , appam n vadas..We love it with plain rice..

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Toor dal - 2 small
  2. katoris.. ( boiled)..
  3. onion - 1 diced
  4. Few drumsticks
  5. Chopped..
  6. pumpkin / bottle
  7. gourd diced - 1 bowl
  8. small.
  9. tomatoes chopped
  10. 9-10 no.s....
  11. Beans chopped -
  12. 1 tbsp...
  13. tamarind soaked in
  14. water - lemon sized.
  15. Sambhar powder -
  16. 1.5 tsp..
  17. salt to taste
  18. Red chili powder to
  19. taste..
  20. coriander powder -
  21. 1 tbsp ..
  22. Sabut jeera - 1 tsp
  23. jeera powder - 1 tsp
  24. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  25. Curry leaves - 15 leaves
  26. Dry red chili - 2-3 no's
  27. Refined oil- 1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in vessal n
  2. add curry leaves ,
  3. mustard seeds, Jeera
  4. sabut, a pinch of hing.
  5. Dry red chili , n diced
  6. onions..
  7. Saute them for 2 min.
  8. Add other veggies n
  9. saute for 5 minutes.
  10. Now add the dry
  11. Add little water n
  12. saute for another 8-10
  13. minutes..
  14. Now add the toor dal
  15. n mix well...
  16. Add water if required
  17. in case Dal is too
  18. thick...
  19. Let the Dal boil n add
  20. the tamarind water
  21. now..
  22. Cook till the Dal boils
  23. nicely..
  24. Adjust salt n spices.
  25. Switch of the gas.
  26. Sambhar is ready.
