Ingredients to make Rajma masala

  • 1 large cup/katori rajma
  • 1 large sized onion
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 large sized tomato
  • 1 green chilli
  • 1 tsp garlic
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 Tsp of cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp of turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp of rajma masala
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • salt to taste
  • oil
  • water
  • 1tbsp of cream

How to make Rajma masala

  1. Soak rajma in water overnight or 5-6 hours.
  2. Boil with 5 cups of water and 1 tsp of salt in pressure cooker.
  3. Meanwhile grind 1 onion, ginger, garlic, green chilli.
  4. Grind tomato separately.
  5. Take a wok/pan add 1 tbsp of oil add cumin seeds as it started cracking add chopped onions.
  6. As it changes the color add grinded masala.
  7. Saute it properly for a minute.
  8. Then add grinded tomatoes.
  9. Saute it till the oil separates from the sides.
  10. Now add red chilli powder, turmeric powder and rajma masala.
  11. Saute it.
  12. Add salt account to taste as little salt is already on rajma.
  13. Now add the boiled Rajma.
  14. Saute it and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  15. Add water if required.
  16. Now add cream saute it for a minute. Sprinkle garam masala.
  17. Serve with paranthas or tandoori naan
