Homemade custard filling stuffed inside pillow soft buns

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For the buns
  2. Flour 2.5cups
  3. Sugar 2 tbsp
  4. Yeast 2 tsp
  5. Salt 1 tsp
  6. Milk 1 cup
  7. Egg 1
  8. FOR CUSTARD
  9. eggs 3
  10. Sugar 1 cup
  11. Milk 1.5 cups
  12. Maida 2 tsp
  13. Cornflour 2tsp
  14. Butter 2 tbsp
  15. Vanilla extract 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. TAKE 2.5 CUPS FLOUR, ADD 1 TSP SALT
  2. ADD 2 TSP YEAST, 2 TBSP SUGAR
  3. ADD 1 EGG, GRADUALLY POUR IN 1 CUP MILK, MIX
  4. KNEAD INTO A SMOOTH, SOFT DOUGH
  5. ADD 2 TBSP BUTTER, SPREAD & ROLL THE DOUGH LIKE THIS
  6. KNEAD FOR 10 MINS, SMEAR SOME GHEE ON TOP, COVER & SET ASIDE TO REST FOR 1 HOUR
  7. TAKE 3 EGGS, ADD 3/4 CUP SUGAR
  8. ADD 2 TSP EACH OF FLOUR & CORNFLOUR
  9. WHISK WELL
  10. ADD 1.5 CUPS MILK, WHISK
  11. SEIVE THE MIXTURE
  12. KEEP IT TO HEAT, CONTINUE TO WHISK
  13. THE CUSTARD WILL THICKEN GRADUALLY
  14. ONCE COMPLETELY THICK, TAKE OFF HEAT, ADD 2 TBSP BUTTER
  15. ADD 1 TSP FRESH VANILLA EXTRACT, MIX
  16. THE CUSTARD IS READY
  17. THE RESTED DOUGH HAS RISEN BEAUTIFULLY
  18. PUNCH TO REMOVE THE AIR
  19. DIVIDE INTO 6-8 BALLS
  20. FLATTEN EACH DOUGH BALL & FILL 1 TBSP CUSTARD INSIDE
  21. FOLD & SEAL THE EDGES, ALLOW THEM TO REST FOR 30 MINS
  22. APPLY A MIXTURE OF MILK & HONEY OVER THE BUNS
  23. DRIZZLE SOME CUSTARD ON TOP
  24. BAKE IN A PREHEATED OVEN AT 180 DEGREES FOR 18-20 MINS
  25. SERVE THEM WARM, TRY THEM, THEY'RE YUM
