ABOUT Tomato plastic chutny RECIPE

We at Odisha make this chutney during festive time. Tomato , dates , green chillis , aam papadi are cooked with jaggery. The tangy sweet and hot taste in dark red colour is also a treat to eye.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Tomato 6 numbers
  2. Green chilli 2 numbers
  3. Oil 1 tbs
  4. Raisin 8 numbers
  5. Jaggery 3 tbs
  6. Sugar 2 tbsp
  7. Turmeric 1 tsp
  8. Dates 6 numbers slices
  9. Aam (mango) papad 3 cubes
  10. Coriander leaves chopped 2 tbs
  11. Black Cumin 1/2 tsp
  12. Cumin powder 1 tsp
  13. Water 1/2 cup
  14. Red chilli powder 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Boil the tomatoes
  2. Stain this and make puree
  3. Slice the mango papad and dates
  4. Heat oil in a pan, add black cumin let them splutter then add chilli, mango papad, dates ,salt to taste. Add turmeric powder and mix well.
  5. Then add jaggery,
  6. Pour the tomato puree and mix it thoroughly, add little water
  7. Add sugar and mix it, and leave it until tomato is cooked and gravy is thick, sprinkle the chopped coriander leaves. Your tomato plastic chutney is ready to serve with hot steam rice .
