ABOUT Chilla floating in Red River RECIPE

An innovative combination of the desi Chilla with tomato red chilli gravy. Addition of cashews enriches it's taste. Garnishing with boiled peas makes it more beautiful as well healthy too. Here no artificial color or any preservative used.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For preparing chilla-
  2. Sooji, 1 bowl
  3. Water, as required to prepare batter
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Red chilli powder, 1tsp
  6. Green chilli, 1, chopped
  7. For gravy-
  8. Dry red chillies, 2
  9. Cumin seeds, 1tsp
  10. Onion, 1 medium sized, chopped
  11. Desi red tomatoes, 3
  12. Cashew nuts, 4-5
  13. Coriander powder, 1/2tsp
  14. Turmeric powder, 1/4tsp
  15. Salt to taste
  16. Oil as required
  17. Water, as per desired gravy consistency
  18. Peas, 1/2 bowl, boiled
  19. Coriander leaves, few, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Initially let's prepare chillas and for that take sooji in a big bowl and add water and prepare a batter.
  2. Add red chilli powder, green chilli and salt and mix well.
  3. Rest it for 10 minutes.
  4. Take a non stick tawa and pour the batter and prepare the chillas.
  5. Roll them on the tawa itself and keep aside.
  6. For gravy- Take dry red chillies and cumin seeds and dry roast on a tawa.
  7. Now grind them and keep aside.
  8. Take a non stick pan and add onions and roast them for few minutes.
  9. If you want you can add oil too while roasting.
  10. Meanwhile take tomatoes, cashews and grind them to paste.
  11. Now add this puree to onions and cook well.
  12. Now add the prepared chilli-cumin powder to it and mix.
  13. Now add coriander powder, salt, turmeric powder and water and cook until desired consistency.
  14. Gravy is ready.
  15. Now take the folded chilla and cut them to pieces.
  16. Add them to the gravy.
  17. Garnish with boiled peas and coriander leaves.
  18. Your delicious tempting dish is ready.
