ABOUT Jain Kala Chana RECIPE

Kala Chana Recipe is a wonderful kadhi variation in which black chick peas are simmered with spices and curd.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup Black chickpea 
  2. 1 tbsp Chickpea flour
  3. 1/2 cup curd
  4. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  5. 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  6. 1 tsp dhaniya jira powder
  7. Salt to taste
  8. 1 tsp garam masala powder
  9. 1 tbsp chopped coriander
  10. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  11. Asafoetida a pinch
  12. 2 tbsp oil

Instructions

  1. wash and soak chana overnight in sufficient water.
  2. Drain water and pressure cook the chana in fresh water through at least 5 to 6 whistles
  3. drain out the chana water in a bowl and keep aside.
  4. In another bowl, mix besan,turmeric powder, chilli powder, dhaniya jira powder, garam masala powder to form a smooth mixture
  5. In a kadhai, heat oil and add jeera. Once it crackles, add hing and pour in the curd. Stir for a minute.
  6. Add chana, salt and the leftover chana water. Bring to boil and simmer for five minutes
  7. Garnish with hara dhania and serve hot with roti
