ABOUT Lauki Chicken Stew RECIPE

A family dish that I have leart from my in laws.

Ingredients Serving: 0

  1. Lauki (bottle gourd) 1/2 kg
  2. Chicken 250 gms
  3. Onion 2 medium
  4. Garlic 4 Cloves
  5. Carrot 1
  6. Tomato 2
  7. Potato 1 medium
  8. Ginger 1/2 inch
  9. Whole garam masala - 1 black cardamom, 1 green cardamom, 1 small cinnamon stick, 1 bay leaf
  10. Cumin seed 1/2 tsp
  11. Dry red chilli 2
  12. Salt
  13. Water
  14. Oil

Instructions

  1. Boil the chicken by adding 1/2 onion roughly chopped, garlic, ginger and salt. Once cooked keep aside along with the chicken water.
  2. Chop in square shape the Lauki, carrot and potato.
  3. In a pan heat oil. Now add whole garam masala, cumin seed, dry red chilli.
  4. When it releases smell add the veggies. Add salt and cover the pan for 2 to 3 minutes. Stir properly.
  5. Add roughly chopped tomatoes, onions and stir.
  6. Now add the boiled chicken and pressure cook for 1 whistle.
  7. Once the cooker opens on its own, check for the consistency. If required, give it a boil to attain your level of consistency.
  8. Serve hot by adding black pepper powder.
