ABOUT Oregano flavoured besan sev RECIPE

Sev are one of the most sought after snacks at tea time in most of the Indian houses. They are very versatile as come in many flavours and their crunchy taste just makes the tea time mood. Adding to the flavour range today i tried to infuse the sev with the italian herb oregano along with the fusion of some indian spices as well, and it came out well. Oregano added a unique flavour to the sev adding to the taste imparted from the other spices.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Besan 1 1/2 cup
  2. Organo 1 teaspoon ( I used what we get with the pizza. You can use the packed one too which we get in the grocery shops)
  3. carrom seeds ( ajwain) 1/ 2 teaspoon
  4. badi saunf 1/ 2 teaspoon
  5. turmeric powder 1/ 4th teaspoon
  6. chilli flakes 1/ 2 teaspoon
  7. kasoori methi( crushed) 1/ 2 teaspoon
  8. Salt to taste
  9. oil 2 1/2 teaspoon for moin
  10. water 3-4 tablespoons to knead the dough
  11. Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. take besan in a bowl and add oregano, carrom seeds, kasuri methi, chilli flakes, badi saunf, turmeric and salt.
  2. mix everything nicely and add the oil for moin and rub the mixture using your palms till a crumbly texture appears.
  3. after giving moin properly add water little by little and knead a tight dough. the dough should not be sticky.
  4. let the dough rest for about 10 minutes covered with a cloth to avoid drying.
  5. Set the star shaped attachment in the sev maker and put a small ball of the dough and start making the sev.
  6. fry the sev in medium hot oil on slow flame till they get the golden fried colour. Oregano flavoured sev are ready..Easy to make and yummy and crunchy to eat.
