ABOUT VepilaKatti RECIPE

VepilaKatti is a dish from Palakad Kerala and my maternal grand mother's signature dish. It is made out of bitter orange leaves (Naarthangaai).

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. Kaffir Lime Leaves /Lemon Leaves - 10
  2. Dry Red Chilli - 2
  3. Small Onion - 3 (Optional)
  4. Curry Leaves - 5
  5. Salt - to taste
  6. Tamarind - very small size
  7. Hing Powder - small spoon

Instructions

  1. Wash the lime leaves & curry leaves, pat them dry.
  2. Dry roast the red chilli until they turn crispy.
  3. Tear the stem of the lime leaf.
  4. Add all the ingredients and grind them in a mixer to a nice paste. Do not add water.
  5. Make them as small balls and store them in an airtight container.
  6. Sprinkle the pickle over the curd rice & enjoy.
