Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 2 cups cleaned finely grated banana stem
  2. 1 medium sized potato boiled and mashed
  3. 1 tsp Ginger-garlic paste
  4. 2 Green chillies finely chopped
  5. 3 tsp coriander leaves
  6. 1 tsp cumin seeds
  7. 1/2 tsp chili powder
  8. 1 tsp Coriander powder
  9. 1/2 tsp roasted cumin powder
  10. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  11. 1/2 cup thick curd
  12. 1/2 tbsp gram flour
  13. 3 tbsp oil + oil for shallow frying kofta

Instructions

  1. First we will clean banana stem by removing the extra thread in them by rotating a toothpick around it. Once the excess threads are removed pressure cook it for 1 whistle.
  2. Once cooked remove from cooker and squeeze the extra water and keep it in the plate above absorbent paper and let it dry.
  3. In a bowl add in the banana stem, boiled potatoes, salt and bit of all the spices and finely chopped green chilies. Make a dough out of this and make small lemon sized balls. Let them rest in fridge for some time.
  4. Heat oil in a pan. When it's medium hot add all spices and ginger-garlic paste except salt and saute it for few seconds and then add in curd and saute till the fat is released and oil is separated.
  5. Add little water and let it come to a boil. Adjust seasoning and switch off the gas.
  6. Add the koftas in the gravy and serve.
