ABOUT Sabudana Khichdi RECIPE

Sabudana khichdi is a delicious dish of tapoica Pearls cooked with potatoes and peanuts. Vegan and gluten free recipe. The Khichdi is loaded with carbohydrates and proteins coming only from peanuts.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup Sabudana / topioca prarls
  2. 2 Medium sized boil potatoes and chopped
  3. 1/2 cup roasted peanuts powder
  4. 1/2 cup tomatoes
  5. 8-10 Curry leaves
  6. 1 tsp grated ginger
  7. 1 chopped green chilli
  8. 1 tsp cumin
  9. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  10. 1/2 cup gratef fresh coconut
  11. 1 tsp sugar
  12. 1 tsp lemon juice
  13. Salt to taste
  14. 2-3 tbsp Oil

Instructions

  1. Soak sabudana overnight for 5 to 6 hours.
  2. Next day drain the sabudana very well and keep aside in a bowl.
  3. Now heat oil in a pan.
  4. Add the cumin seeds first and let them crackle and browned.
  5. After that add the curry leaves and green chillies.
  6. Fry for half a minute and then at the grated Ginger.
  7. Add turmeric powder and satue well.
  8. Also add tomatoes.
  9. Let the tomatoes translucent.
  10. Now add potato and Saute for 1-2 minute.
  11. Add sabudana.
  12. Keep on stirring the mixture.
  13. When the sabudana loses their opaqueness and starts becoming translucent they are Cooked.
  14. Don't over cook as they might become lumpy and hard.
  15. Lastly add roasted peanut powder and grated coconut.
  16. Mix well.
  17. Turn off the flame.
  18. Drizzle some lemon juice.
  19. Mix very well.
  20. Sabudana khichdi is ready to be serve.
