Shiuli or harsingar is one of the sweeetest smelling flower one can come across.For Bengalis it heralds the arrival of the Puja season. Apart from the sentimental value of the tree it also has medicinal properties. The properties have been known to treat chronic fever, rheumatism, arthritis, joint pain etc.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 10 Shiuli Leaves
  2. 1 cup besan
  3. ½ cup rice flour
  4. 1 tsp Nigella seeds
  5. 1 tsp khuskhus Salt to taste 1 tsp turmeric powder
  6. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  7. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash the leaves well. Make a batter of everything except the leaves.
  2. Heat some oil. Dip the leaves in the batter so that they are well coated. Deep fry and serve.
