ABOUT Aata Halwa RECIPE

An easy yet yummy Indian sweet that everyone in the family will enjoy. My grandmother used to make when we visited her during summer vacations and at home it usually was made on Sundays as a a part of lazy brunch. Now my kids enjoy it.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1 cup whole wheat flour
  2. 1/2 cup Ghee
  3. 1 cup sugar
  4. 3 cups water
  5. 1/2 cup chopped almonds
  6. Saffron a pinch for garnishing

Instructions

  1. In a pan, over low heat, add the flour and ghee. Keep roasting on sim, until the flour turns brown. This may take about 20 min. Add almonds (keep some for garnishing) and roast for a few more minutes. Slowly add water and sugar.
  2. Keep stirring until the sugar dissolves and the halwa thickens a bit. Sereve it hot in a bowl. Top it with almonds and saffron strands.
