ABOUT Onion Fritters/Pyaji RECIPE

Fritters made out of onion dipped in gram flour mixture.A very tasty and easy snack from Bengal.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 2-3 chopped onions
  2. olive oil for frying
  3. Gram flour 1/2 cup
  4. 1-2 tsp chopped coriander
  5. Red chilli powder 1 tsps
  6. turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  7. salt to taste
  8. 1/2 tsp sugar
  9. 1/2 tsp kalonji
  10. 2 salted crackers crushed

Instructions

  1. Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder,salt,sugar chopped coriander, gram flour,crushed salted crackers and 1 tablespoon oil. Mix well using sufficient water to make a thick mixture
  2. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.Damp your palms and divide onion mixture into medium sized equal portions shaped into balls (pyazi). Deep-fry the pyajis In hot oil.Flip and fry the other side.
  3. Fry till it is golden and crispy.Take out from oil and put on tissue paper.
  4. Onion Fritters or Pyaji is ready.Serve with hot tea.
