ABOUT Daal vada /chattambadey RECIPE

Chattambadey as popularly known in mangalore and udupi areas, its prepared from soaked lentils and spices... deep fried and served with chutney.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. 1 cup soaked chana daal
  2. 4-5 dried red chillies
  3. 1/2 inch ginger, finely chopped.
  4. 1 tsp salt or as per taste.
  5. Pinch of hing
  6. 3 stem curry leaves, finely chop the leaves.
  7. 2 green chillies, finley chopped

Instructions

  1. In a blender add dried chillies and pulse till coarsely powdered .
  2. Add the soaked chana daal, add salt, hingh and pulse twice or thrice, the mixture should not be paste, but should be coarse.
  3. Add curry leaves, ginger and mix well.
  4. Make small patties and deep fry.
  5. Serve with chutney.
  6. Chattambadey means flat ambadey, thats a flat snack and it s crispy. So fry till golden on low flame, but oil should be hot.
