Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. 1 cup Gram flour
  2. 1/2 cup Rice flour
  3. 2-3 teaspoon Red chili powder
  4. 4-5 pods Garlic peeled
  5. 2 teaspoon Butter
  6. 2 tablespoon Hot oil+ oil for deep frying
  7. 1 big pinch of asafoetida/hing powder
  8. as needed Salt
  9. as needed Luke warm water


  1. In a big bowl add both the flours, chilli powder, butter, 2 tablespoon hot oil and asafoetida
  2. Crush and then made a smooth paste of the garlic pods
  3. Add the like warm water gradually to knead a soft and non sticky dough
  4. Heat oil for deep frying
  5. Grease the inside of a murukku press and use the mould looking similar to the laddle with tiny holes used while frying normally
  6. Put one portion of the dough inside the murukku press.
  7. Turn the heat to medium-Low and release a batch of the batter into the hot oil
  8. Deep fry until golden and crisp
  9. Place the fried sev on an absorbent paper for few minutes
  10. Break into bite sized portions before storing them airtight
  11. Repeat the same process for the remaining dough
  12. Enjoy with your cuppa!
