Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. For dough-rice flour-250gm
  2. Oil-1 tbsp
  3. For filling-Heeng- a pinch
  4. coriander leaves- a handful
  5. Ginger- 1/2 tsp chopped
  6. Urad dal-1/2 cup
  7. Chana dal-1/2 cup
  8. Chilli powder-1/2 tsp
  9. garam masala-1/2 tsp
  10. zeera-1/4 tsp
  11. Salt and water as required

Instructions

  1. Soak the urad and chana dal separately for 4-5 hrs, after that grind coarsely, add garam masala, heeng, zeera,ginger,coriander leaves,chilli powder and season.
  2. Now combine oil, rice flour and little salt and knead into a soft dough.
  3. Roll the dough out into a large poori.
  4. With the help of a cutter, cut out smaller pooris, then stuff 1 tbsp dal mixture into it and steam for 15 minutes, or till dal is cooked through.
  5. You can also shallow fry it.
  6. Serve hot with Green coriander chutney and a red chutney(recipe below)

Should I kneed the dough only with oil?
