Kurkuri bhindi

Ingredients to make Kurkuri bhindi

  • bhindi/okra 400 grams
  • salt to taste
  • Roasted cumin Powder 1/2 Tsp
  • besan 2-3 tbsp
  • turmeric 1/2tsp
  • Chaat masala 1 tsp
  • red chilli Powder (As per taste)
  • oil for frying

How to make Kurkuri bhindi

  1. Wash and dry okra.
  2. Chop off both ends.
  3. Slit into half, lengthwise.
  4. Remove the seeds and white stalk using hands/butter knife /spoon.
  5. Mix besan and spices together and toss the okra in this.
  6. Keep for about 5 minutes.
  7. Heat oil for frying.
  8. Fry bhindi till the coating is golden brown.
  9. To serve sprinkle a bit of chaat masala on top.

My Tip:

The bhindi should be deseeded or the seeds will splutter when frying and potentially cause burns. The seeds if left in also make the dish bitter.
