ABOUT Butter chicken RECIPE

Butter chicken is the popular and most loved flavored dish that complements the chicken well. It is not only famous in India but also in foreign countries especially those who love Indian cuisine. It is also called Murge Makahi in northern India. Here is a simple recipe of my version of butter chicken, marinated with yogurt and Indian spices cooked in tomato sauce.

Ingredients Serving: 0

  1. Marination:-
  2. 1/2 kg Chicken
  3. 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  4. 1 tsp coriander powder
  5. 2 tsp kasmiri chili powder
  6. 1 tsp garam masala
  7. 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  8. 3/4 tbsp greek yogurt
  9. Cooking:-
  10. 2 tbsp olive oil
  11. 1/2 bar butter
  12. 1 tsp cumin
  13. 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  14. 10/15 cashewnut
  15. 2 green chilies (as per taste)
  16. 1 tbsp coriander powder
  17. 1 tsp chili powder
  18. 2 1/2 big tomato
  19. 1 cup Fried onion
  20. 1/2 cup full fat cream
  21. 1 tbsp Tomato ketchup
  22. 1 tsp dry Kasuri methi/ fenugreek leaves
  23. 1/4 tsp clove powder
  24. 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  25. 1/2 cinnamon powder
  26. salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate 1/2 kg Chicken with 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste, 1 tsp coriander powder, 2 tsp Kashmiri chili powder, 1 tsp garam masala, 1/2 tsp cumin powder, 3/4 tbsp greek yogurt for 2-3 hours. Longer the better.
  2. In wok heat oil and butter together and fry the marinated chicken. Don't turn butter brown. Keep the fried oil aside for later use.
  3. In a small oil saute 1 tsp cumin, 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste, 10/15 cashew nut, 2 green chilies (as per taste), 1 tbsp coriander powder, 1 tsp chili powder, 2 1/2 big tomato is soft.
  4. Now add 1 cup fried onion and stir for few seconds. Add water as needed. The consistency should be not too thick nor too thin. Let the gravy boil. Once done keep it for cooling.
  5. Make a thick paste for the above mixture.
  6. In the same nonstick heat the Gravy, Fried chicken pieces and boil it for 7-8 minutes over medium heat. Keep stir in between. Add chicken pieces and boil for few seconds.
  7. Now add 1/2 cup full-fat cream, 1 tbsp Tomato ketchup, 1 tsp dry Kasuri methi/ fenugreek leaves, 1/4 tsp clove powder, 1/2 tsp cardamom powder, 1/2 cinnamon powder, salt to taste. Boil again till your grave is thick in consistency.
  8. Serve hot with Rice and Flatbread.
