Sarson da saag

Ingredients to make Sarson da saag

  • 1kg Sarso saag
  • 250 grams bathwa saag
  • 250 grams palak saag
  • 4"ginger paste
  • one bunch of garlic peeled paste
  • 7 green chillies chopped
  • 4medium size tomatoe puree or chopped
  • 2 onion finely chopped
  • 200 gram Desi ghee
  • 100 gram white butter
  • 2 tablespoon of Makki flour(ka aatta)
  • one and half teaspoon of salt
  • one teaspoon of red chilli powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon of Garam-masala
  • 1/4 tsp. of Heeng

How to make Sarson da saag

  1. 1-First of all cut and wash saag under running water 5-6 times properly and put it in a strainer.
  2. 2-Now keep pressure cooker on high flame gas and put all chopped Saag in it with salt and little water close lid and wait for 5-7 whistles.
  3. 3-In the mean time keep deep pan or kadhai on gas pour ghee when it becomes hot then put Heeng in it then onion and ginger- garlic paste.
  4. 4-Make puree of tomatoes and green chillies in grinder and pour it in pan when onion become red with all remaining spices.
  5. 5-Then grind that boiled Saag in the grinder and put it in the same pan and wait until it leaves ghee from all the sides.
  6. 6-Now take a serving bowl and put that Saag in it and serve it with white butter and makki ki roti or plain roti or Paratha.

My Tip:

Saag should be always washed under running water5-6 times.Use lots of ginger- garlic and Heeng in it for easy digestion.
