ABOUT Tapioca fritters RECIPE

This is a traditional recipe from Thalassery, a place in Kerala known for its unique cuisine. It gives a delightful experience and wonderful taste.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Tapioca 1/2 kg
  2. Curry leaves 2-3 sprigs
  3. Garam masala 1/2 tsp
  4. Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  5. Chilli Powder 2 tbsp
  6. Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  7. Rice powder 1 tbsp
  8. Salt to taste
  9. Besan 3/4 cup

Instructions

  1. Chop tapioca like small finger chips.
  2. Wash it thoroughly with water, 3 times.
  3. Drain the water and add red chilli powder, salt and marinate it for 10 minutes.
  4. Tapioca will leave water. Hence do not add any water. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.
  5. Add besan. Sprinkle very little water for bonding if required.
  6. Hold the masala in your fist so that it gets the shape of a chicken's leg.
  7. Deep fry in oil and serve hot.
