ABOUT Plain Sooji Idli RECIPE

As we know Idli is a traditional breakfast in south india. In south India, you will find both Rawa idli and rice idli. Rice idli is served with sambhar and Rawa idli is served as breakfast.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Semolina 1 Cup
  2. Curd 1 Cup
  3. Salt 1 Tsp
  4. Black Mustard 1 Tsp
  5. Baking Soda 1 Tsp
  6. Water as Required

Instructions

  1. Heat a pan on medium flame.
  2. Roast semolina on medium-low flame.
  3. When it turns in to light golden colour turn off the flame.
  4. Heat 2 spoon oil in the pan and add black mustard.
  5. Roast it and add semolina.
  6. Mix this tadka in semolina well.
  7. Turn off the flame.
  8. Transfer it into a plate and let it cool.
  9. Place this semolina in a bowl.
  10. Add curd, salt and mix well,
  11. Whisk for 2 minutes in 1 direction.
  12. If the batter is too thick then add some water.
  13. Keep it aside for 20 minutes.
  14. In a big vessel add 2 glass of water to boil.
  15. Keep a stand inside it.
  16. Grease a tin from inside.
  17. When water starts boiling add baking soda in batter and mixes well.
  18. Immediately transfer this batter into the greased tin.
  19. Put this tin on a stand in the vessel.
  20. Cover the vessel with lid for 2o minutes.
  21. After 20 minutes check with a toothpick, if it is clear then idli is ready.
  22. Turn off the flame.
  23. Cut in to pieces and put in plate.
  24. idli is ready to serve.
