Apple pie

Ingredients to make Apple pie

  • all purpose flour 300g
  • butter 200g
  • Icing sugar100g
  • 2-3tbsp milk optional
  • 2 med sized red apples peeled and chopped
  • 2-3pinches cinnamon powder
  • 1/2cup cake crumbs
  • 2-3tbsp castor sugar
  • 1/4cup mixed toasted nuts like almonds walnuts and cahewnuts
  • 2tbsp butter for filling

How to make Apple pie

  1. Chill the butter (200g).
  2. Mix and sieve icing sugar and all purpose flour together
  3. Cut chilled butter into cubes and crumb it well in the flour mix.
  4. Rub it nicely so as to get a bread crumb consistency. Now gather the mix to get a dough consistency. If needed add 2 to 3 tbsp milk
  5. Chill the dough for 20 min. Now set it on a pie plate and make holes in it so that it doesn't fluff up during baking
  6. Bake it in a preheated oven at 180degree for 20 min until half done
  7. By the time it is baking V will make the filling
  8. In a wok add two tbsp butter. Add chopped apples .cook for 2 min . Add sugar and toasted nuts . Add cinnamon powder Cook for 2 more mins.
  9. The filling would be wet . So add cake crumbs to make filling dry. U can add dessicated coconut if cake crumbs are not available
  10. The pie wud have been half done by now. Put the filling and cover the pie as shown in photo or any other way u like
  11. Bake it in a preheated oven for 20 min at 180degree.
  12. Can serve hot or cold

My Tip:

U can have it as it is or for people with sweet tooth u can have with caramel sauce
